In addition to the recreational league, Sizzle Softball has several "select" teams for young women who want to play Fast Pitch Softball at a more competitive level to prepare them for high school and, perhaps, collegiate competition.

Sizzle Softball select teams include 10-12 Sizzle teams We also have 3-4 Millard Heat teams for those wanting a select team with less games, money & travel. Sizzle teams are available in the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age groups. These teams compete in the Omaha Metro Class "A" Fast Pitch Leagues. Tryouts for Select Teams are held in late July/early August for the next years teams.

The Sizzle program is recognized throughout the State of Nebraska as one of the best of it's kind. Millard Heat was created in 2006 to give more Millard girls the chance to compete at a higher level. Historically, the MAA select teams have excelled in post season tournaments and of those attending 2010 World Series several finished in the top 5 nationally.

The "Select" program is best suited for the young ballplayer who has shown a strong interest in the sport, has demonstrated they have a better than average skill level, indicated they want to play against challenging competition, and who is willing to make a commitment to practice and develop a good work ethic. The objective of the Select Teams is to play softball at a very competitive level and, ultimately, win games. In 2010 Our Sizzle/Heat program introduced enhancements in all areas such as physical and agility training, an exclusive college recruitment avenue for our players and extensive training and support programs for our coaching staffs. The growth and attraction of the Sizzle program is second to none!

It is critical that any Select player have the complete parental support, both financially and spiritually. Although most teams are involved in extensive fund raising projects, most players must be prepared to pay from $ 650 up to $1000 to play. A typical team budget, for instance, is $8,000.00-$12,000. Most teams have sponsors and conduct fund raisers to assist with the cost if not all of it. No MAA Softball funds are used to support the Select program and Select players and coaches are often involved in player developement of the MAA league players.

Sizzle Softball Select coaches are some of the best in Omaha. Not only are many of them experienced players in their own right, each has spent countless hours reading books, viewing video tapes and spent many hours participating in clinics learning teaching techniques and strategies. Their objective is to not only teach skills, but also to motivate players to reach their full potential.

Typically, Sizzle Softball Select Teams will play 50 to 80 games during the summer season. This includes about 16 league games (normally two games per week) and 5 to 10 weekend tournaments. MAA Softball Select Teams organize and administer a Fall Softball program on weekends during September and October for 200-300 girls. With the emphasis on teaching and improving, there is a clinic and normally 2 games every Sunday afternoon.

Sizzle Softball Select Teams begin practicing for the summer season in January or earlier in indoor facilities, twice weekly, once during the week and once on a weekend day.
