When do I register my child for the Spring baseball season?
Spring Registration will open January 1. Regular registration runs through Thursday, March 1st. It is critical we get registrations in early to allow proper time for team assignment and scheduling. This allows coaches proper time for pre-season practices.
Registrations received on or before Thursday, March 1st are at the rates published on the site. Registrations received after March 1st will include an additional $25 late fee. Please register early to guarantee a team slot for your player!
When does the season start and end?
Season starts in mid April and runs through the end of June. Ages 7-14 will have an End of Season tournament which typically starts the last 2 weeks of June. All games for our In House program are completed by July 4, unless rainouts delay the season-end tournament.
What is the fee and what does it include?
Fees will vary on age and are posted on the website. It includes a new uniform shirt/jersey, a cap and between 14-16 Regular Season games + Tournament Games (Ages 7-14) and 10-12 Regular Season games (Ages 4-6).
You will need to provide uniform pants, socks, and shoes. Pants are usually white or gray. It is recommended to wait to hear from your coach and see if he/she has a preference.
The city of Omaha also assess a city usage fee of $7.50 for each player registered.
How many games will we play, and on what days will be they played?
This depends on the league, however the average number of games played would be somewhere in 14-16 (Ages 7-14) and 10-12 (Ages 4-6).
As far as when the games are scheduled, simply put, each league is different. Due to certain field capacity restrictions (number of games per day) this question is not easily answered until after all teams are formed.
However, for a general idea, you may reference to last year's schedule. This can be found by clicking here, selecting the league that you are interested in, and finally selecting "game schedule". There will be a scrolling calendar that you can view to see the 2011 season. Again, this will give you a general idea of what the schedule was like for your child's new league last year.
Can I request to play with a certain coach or friend?
There is a "special request" question on the registration for this purpose. MAA will try to honor as many requests as possible, and we will process the requests on a first-come, first, serve basis, and it is also subject to roster availability. Late registrations will not be guaranteed any requests. We have a limit of 13 players per team and this ensures adequate playing time for all players.
What if I don’t have a special request?
On the registration, you will select the school district and school that your player attends. For players that don't have a special request, MAA will try to group the player with other players from the same school. Again, this is a first come first serve basis, and several schools may be combined if needed. Late registrants will be placed on a team where there is room on a roster. Unfortunately, this may not be the closest school and in another reason to register early.
When will I hear from the coach?
Players will typically not hear from the coach until after the Coach's Meeting and Meet Your Coach event held in late March. The coaches receive their rosters and schedules at that meeting, and then meet their players at the Meet Your Coach event held later that day. You will be able to meet your coach (and have a great time) at our Meet the Coach event which will be held in late March. Coaches are then free to contact player families. They will call their players and arrange a meeting to get all the practice and game information to the parents.
Please do NOT call the MAA office to find out schedules, coaches, etc. unless you have not been contacted on or before Monday, April 2, 2012. You may contact your League Director if you have questions prior to that.
Practice times are set by your coach. Your coach will inform you on his/her practice schedule when you are initially contacted and/or as the season progresses.

How do I know what age league to register my child for?
MAA Baseball sets the age restriction for each league by the player's age as of May 1, 2012. The age your child we be on May 1, 2012 is the league that your child is eligible to register for.
Can my child play up one year?
Per MAA's Baseball league rules, a player has the option to play up one year at the discretion of the player's family.
Example scenario combining questions 11 and 12:
John Smith's birthday is April 30, 2002. Since John's birthday falls before the cutoff date, he may NOT regiser for 9U; he would have to register for 10U. However, as outlined in Question 2, he would have the option to register for 11U should he elect to play up one year.Top
Do I need to turn in a birth certificate to MAA?
Baseball players are not longer required to submit a birth certificate as part of registration. MAA does, however, reserve the right to verify a player's age via a birth certificate should an issue arise.
Are the 4U and 5U leagues combined?
MAA combines the 4U and 5U leagues together unless each league has enough players to support splitting the leagues apart. This will be determined on March 1 when registration totals are reviewed.
If I want to be a coach, what do I need to do?
Thank you for volunteering to coach! When you register your child, there is a section about areas in which you'd like to volunteer. Check the "Coach" box, and our Registration Coordinator will contact you about the next steps. You will be asked to complete a background check prior to receiving your roster.
